The Ministry of Health has declared Lusaka’s George compound as a new epicenter after the area recorded 16 cholera cases in the last 24 hours.
Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya confirmed the development during press briefing in Lusaka on Tuesday
Dr. Chilufya says the already existing epicentres have continued recording a reduction in cholera cases with Kanyama recording eight cases while Chipata compound reported five cases in the last 24hours.
He said Bauleni reported zero cases while Chawama reported three with Matero reporting six cases bringing the number to 28 cases in the last 24 hours.
Dr. Chilufya said the overall outlook of the Cholera have continued to be recorded in other places including Chelston.
He said the overall number of cases countrywide stands at 3,314 cases with the cumulative number of deaths standing at 78.
Dr Chilufya said the ministry will continue putting in interventions especially in the epicenters so that the disease can be controlled.
