Rusangu University traces its roots in the Missionary endeavors of an American Missionary named William Harry Anderson who crossed the Zambezi river in 1903 from Solusi Mission in Zimbabwe.
From the mission station grew the Rusangu Primary and the Rusangu Secondary schools. In 1975 a Ministerial School was established which in 1993 changed its name to Zambia Adventist Seminary. A year later in 1994, the Seminary was closed to pave way for its reorganization and later in 1997 Zambia Adventist College was established to offer more courses in addition to theology and pastoral training.
Subsequently, in the year 2000, an in-service degree program for serving pastors in Theology began at Riverside Farm Institute in collaboration with Solusi University. In May 2003 the college moved back to the historic Rusangu Mission site. This University currently offers degree programmes that are strategically designed for the needs of society to equip graduates with skill necessary for development. Over the last few years, rapid developments have given birth to a fully fledged Zambia Adventist University offering quality degree programmes in both arts and sciences.

To be a model Christian University in Africa
To provide quality holistic Christian education at tertiary level to all who meet the University entry requirements.
Rusangu University believes and operates on the Seventh-day Adventist world view that the world and all human beings are a product of God’s creative act, further that humans were created in His image, but that through sin this (image) was lost, resulting in physical, mental and spiritual capacities being lessened.
The University therefore, emphasizes the harmonious development of the physical, mental and spiritual faculties of the individual.
In addition, Rusangu University believes that all human beings are equal regardless of gender, ethnicity, creed, or any other challenge, be it physical or otherwise. Further, we believe in educating the student for generous service to the church and society and train him/her to be a thinker not a mare reflector of other people’s thoughts.
